How did you hear about menstrual cups?
Back in may of this year, I was looking up a question about menstrual products and stumbles across something called a menstrual cup

What decided you to give it a try?
I've never really been conscious about the environment, but my youngest has autism and would play in the trash, chewing on things. I wanted to reduce trash input in my bathroom because of it. I researched menstrual cups and it seemed like a very practical thing to do. And more convenient, with less gross wet feelings.

What do you want to say to other women?
First few months can be a real pain, but it is definitely worth it if you stick it out thru the learning curve.
Some think it's disgusting, but the beauty of it is that no one even has to know. You empty it, clean it off, reinsert, wash your hands and no one is the wiser.

I love, love love it!

How did you hear about menstrual cups?
I started looking into menstrual cups for a cleaner, nature friendly, relatively (it's all relative, isn't it?) odorless solution for a backpacking trip coming up. This was one of the last cups I stumbled on, after looking at every website I could find.

What decided you to give it a try?
I was really interested in the no-spill part, & the pull loop looked like it would be easier to grab then the straight tails on the others, and it was cheaper than the tampons & pads I usually buy.

What do you want to say to other women?
There is so much to say. It's a bit much to type it all out again, but I bought the starter kit kit on amazon & I left a detailed review with pictures there. If you want to look that up it's titled. "FemmyCycle is Awesome! This is the only review you need to read. :-p". You could copy and paste that in the review "keyword" search box to make it easier to find, but it's a recent review so it shouldn't be hard to find. I really hope that it helps to make it easier to make a decision on which cup is right for you.

I feel so lucky!

How did you hear about menstrual cups?
I'm subscribed to StuffMomNeverToldYou on Youtube, and saw an episode on menstrual cups. I read through the comments, and my interest was definitely piqued.

What decided you to give it a try?
The comments were all either, "It totally changed my life!" or "Eww, nasty! What do you even do with it! No!" And, I was close to another cycle. I wanted to know. I am totally not ashamed for the 5 day binge research I did.

What do you want to say to other women?
I feel so lucky. I got my Lunette at 16, and it really is worth looking into. I'm not some green hippie blogger mom, I'm a girl who likes to sit on her butt all day, and not feel a wad of cotton up my hoochie. In fact, if you're lazy like me, that's even more of a reason to consider getting one. I was a dual pad-tampon girl. More wiggle room to be lazy.

BUTT! Now I can sit shamelessly for 12 hours and not have to worry about a thing. It's freakin glorious.

How did you hear about menstrual cups?
At 13 years old I have never noticed any advertismenst for menstrual cups. Even at school they were never really spoken about as an option for us girls besides tampons and pads, in fact the first time I had ever seen one was on a poster in the bathroom at a shopping centre.

What decided you to give it a try?
Personally I have always found pads and tampons to be a nuisance. Pads were SOO uncomfortable and well tampons...don't even get me started on the smell, leakage issues, the risk of TSS, as well as all those chemicals that were only doing me harm.
So I did my research and found a cup that met all my needs, a small soft yuuki.

What do you want to say to other women?
I've only been using it for one cycle and I am never going back, all you ladies out their don't be afraid to give it a go, and all you teens your not too young either :).
I'm already trying to get my Mum to give one a try!
It may seem didficult at first but give it a couple of months and you'll be a pro!

How did you hear about menstrual cups?
I've been aware of menstrual cups for several years, but when I searched for info online all I could find was people struggling to find the right fit. And since a menstrual cup seemed like a bit of an investment (back then it cost something like 40€) I was afraid of wasting money on something that wasn't going to fit me. So I soldiered on with pads.

What decided you to give it a try?
I found this website and noticed that there are cups on the market that are very affordable and there was a promotional code available so I thought this is the time to finally give it a try.

What do you want to say to other women?
I want to say... OH MY GOD WHY HAVE I NOT USED A CUP ALL THESE YEARS. I feel like I've been a complete amateur menstruator. The first time I used a cup I felt like I wasn't even on my period. Now that's pretty amazing.

I have to say that I've never used tampons so I'm guessing the transition to cups probably won't be as much of a revelation to people who've used tampons all their lives. But then again it might be? After all I for one find the idea of sticking bleached cotton up there very unpleasant. But I don't know, all I know is that I would NEVER again wear a god-awful, itchy, little diaper they call a pad in my panties. That is just insane to me after discovering cups.

I'm using a soft, size medium, silicone cup from MeLuna. It has a ring stem instead of a stick and I feel like that made a big difference in how comfortable I felt with the cup inside me. There wasn't a chance of anything poking me by accident and the ring made it really easy to remove as well. All in all, I love it.

How did you hear about menstrual cups?
I found them while searching for alternatives to disposables, for physical as well as ecological reasons.

What decided you to give it a try and which brand?
I had truly awful periods (physically and psychologically). I bought Instead (now called Softcups) at the grocery store but they didn't fit at all. I searched the net and oredered the Keeper Moon cup, which I also struggled with. I finally had success with a MeLuna (after failing again with a Diva and a Keeper) and now love my Miacup and MCUK.

What do you want to say to women around you?
~ Disposables are not healthy (in addition to being gross)
~ Don't be afraid to get to know your body
~ Give yourself time to grow accustomed to cups and stay calm if you have challenges
~ There is support available if you have issues
~ If it isn't working, you may just need to try a different cup

How did you hear about menstrual cups?
I had heard about cups when I was a teenager, but they weren't really easily accessible at the time. I forgot about them for a decade, then remembered them again a couple years ago and I am so glad I did!

What decided you to give it a try and which brand?
I thought cups were a great idea when I first heard about them. When I revisited the idea, I was open to trying something new, but also a little skeptical too!

What do you want to say to women around you?

How did you hear about menstrual cups?
A friend of mine suggested I start using a moon cup! She had been using it for years and highly recommended it.

What decided you to give it a try and which brand?
I wanted to be more actively environmentally friendly and stop polluting the planet with so many pads and tampons. I also wanted to try something new for my body and save money as well!

What do you want to say to women around you?
Give it a go! It takes a little practise inserting the menstrual cup but once you become comfortable with process, your moon cycle becomes a very empowering experience. Almost every time I empty my cup, I make sure I pour the blood back into the earth (into my garden). This feels ritualistic for me and a sacred offering. Read more about it on my blog!

How did you hear about menstrual cups?
I saw a few articles online and then started to do some research....

What decided you to give it a try and which brand?
I did a lot of research online and found a website that was comparing all the brands and sizes and choose from what seemed like suiting me best. I went with LadyCup. I've wanted for a while to found an alternative to tampons so when I heard about menstrual cups, it was only a matter of figuring out what I needed to try it straight away!

What do you want to say to women around you?
Menstrual cups are clearly the best choice! I've been promoting to friends around since I've been using it for about a year now and have had feedbacks from them thanking me to have shared the idea! I understand it's a little scary to try at first but it is very well designed!!! Never had leeks, and it's so practical! Only one cup to reuse so you don't have to plan to wear pockets or a bag when you have your periods, no shame to roll up your tampons in toilet paper and cross the hall to the bin when toilets are not well equiped! I used to get a little itchy from tampons as well specially at the end of the cycle and no more of that! Also you can still just be naked and go swimming without worrying about that cord hanging....I love it!!

Never leave home without it, that time of month...

How did you hear about menstrual cups?
My big sister found a vendor and gave me one as a Christmas present back in 2008.

What decided you to give it a try and which brand?
It seemed so much more convenient than tampons and pads, although it did require a bit of training to learn how to use it. Back then, as far as I know, DivaCup was the only one on the marked.

What do you want to say to women around you?
I never looked back and I have recommended it friends ever since. It is easy and it really does not irritate the environment down there further. It is already quite sensitive to outside bacteria that time of month, so trapping tons of bacteria with a pad or in a tampon is just yucky. It feels so much lighter and healthier with a cup - and then there is a added environmental bonus of not throwing out tons of plastic materials after one use each month.

How did you hear about menstrual cups?
I first heard about menstrual cups from online websites/forums.

What decided you to give it a try and which brand?
I want to go 'green' whenever possible, and got frustrated using tampons & disposable pads for so many years. The tampons made my cramps worse over the years.
I first tried the Diva Cup, then the soft Meluna Cup and then the Si-Bell Cup. Love them all!

How did you hear about menstrual cups?
I first heard about them about 20 years ago when my mother and her friends were talking about them but a couple years ago talk about them kept popping up here and there where natural womens groups were.

What decided you to give it a try and which brand?
I have the MeLuna in two different sizes as I have a heavier then lighter flow each month. I decided to give them a go because the risks of using meds and tampons worried me with the bleaches and cottons used and I don't like pads. I also like d the idea of them being re-usable so you buy it once and you don't have to spend money on the products again for a few years if you look after them. So not only are they good for my body's health, they are great for the environment.

What do you want to say to women around you?
They take some getting used to with the insertion but once you get used to it they are amazing. They have the same comfort level as a tampon, they are great for the environment and they are super convenient. You can empty them when you are out and about or you can even empty them when in the shower (in fact I recommend practicing in the shower until you get used to them) I love mine so much and highly recommend it. The MeLuna in particular as they have different sizes and it's not too rigid.

I'm more comfortable with my period now that I use a cup.

How did you hear about menstrual cups?
I heard about menstrual cups online. I think it was through an article I found about hygiene and/or YouTube videos about what cups were, how to use them and what the best brands were.

What decided you to give it a try and which brand?
I never liked using tampons and when I found out there was another option besides disposable pads and that I could be more environmentally conscious about my period, I looked into it. I compared brands online and watched a number of reviews and found that MeLuna had a soft cup option and decided that would probably be good for a beginner and it comes in nice colors.

What do you want to say to women around you?
Menstrual cups are great alternatives to the methods that we're taught to use during our periods. They cut down on overall mess and are safe to use. I recommend trying them to anyone who is comfortable inserting objects into their vagina.

How did you hear about menstrual cups?
I've been interested in cloth pads for a long time, because frankly tampons and disposables are really gross to me and I always hated my period. I kept seeing reference to these "menstrual cups" and it sounded amazing!

What decided you to give it a try and which brand?
I bought a DivaCup (the only one available at my local health food store) and hated it because it sat way too low and was really uncomfortable. After doing lots more research, I bought a MeLuna soft, which was way more comfortable but leaked a lot, and later a MeLuna classic, which leaks less but still isn't 100% perfect. I'm still on my quest to find the perfect cup, but my period is 10k times better than it was before I discovered the menstrual cup.

What do you want to say to women around you?
Don't give up on the menstrual cup just because you buy one and it's not right, especially if your first was the DivaCup. Read around, research, explore - everyone's ladyparts are different and you may need to try a couple to find your perfect fit.

How did you hear about menstrual cups?
I was looking for anything that could help with my PCOS and found an article all about menstrual cups.

What decided you to give it a try and which brand?
It sounded plausible. I had TSS when I was 15 and using tampons. After that I never used anything but pads. I had heard about re-usable pads before, but that never appealed to me. The idea of a cup, however... even though at first I was nervous due to my previous history, I tried it. I first started with a diva cup in 2010. I hated it. I tried it for a few months and it never felt right. I was always getting leaks and it just felt so foreign to me. Fast forward to 2014 and I'd been back to using pads and needing to change every three to four hours. I was sick of it. I did more research and lo and behold they have OTHER brands; different materials, firmness, sizes, and stems. I ordered the MeLuna classic set in M/L with a ring stem. The M is perfect. I can't get over it. I've made it to ten hours without needing to change it out and still no spotting. It's a dream.

What do you want to say to women around you?
If you're not sure, just try it. It's worth a shot, honestly. You may not find the perfect one at first but with a bit of research and trying, you will.

How did you hear about menstrual cups?
I heard about them from a workshop at college.

What decided you to give it a try and which brand?
I was going to go backpacking during my period, and did not want to be carrying around used pads or tampons. I looked at a lot of brands and chose Yuuki, but I think I would have been just as happy with any of them.

What do you want to say to women around you?
People say there is a learning curve to using menstrual cups, but I didn't really find that to be the case. I sometimes still use a pad on my heaviest day so that I don't have to empty the cup as often. One pad a period is still a lot better than before, though. I have been using my cup for a year and I think it has already paid back the cost of the purchase.

How did you hear about menstrual cups?
I first saw an advertisement for the Diva Cup in a magazine, and did some research into cups.

What decided you to give it a try and which brand?
Tampons were very uncomfortable for me and didn't seem to do the job on my heavier days, so I decided that it wouldn't hurt anything to purchase a cup and try it out. I chose the MeLuna starter set, because I got two different sizes to test out which one worked best. Plus I was getting a lot of irritation from disposable products, and was ready to be done with that.

What do you want to say to women around you?
I've talked to some girlfriends who are put off of the idea of having a cup sit there and collect for hours, but it is not as gross as it may seem. Also, you are eliminating putting chemicals into your body by way of tampons, or wearing a pad that collects and you have to sit/walk around in that. With a menstrual cup, you can go for several hours without needing to empty. And if you do need to empty, there is no need to make sure you have extra supplies on hand, or worry about finding a proper disposal bin. Then there is the money factor of how much you are saving by not having to buy new products each month.
