Uttara Vasti – Ayurvedic yoni decoction recipe

Intimate health

This article is an excerpt from a book that I found interesting. This is different approach to vagina health and you’ll find down below ayurvedic recipes on how to make your own Uttara Vasti.

Women’s Power to Heal: Through Inner Medicine, by Maya Tiwari.
Synopsis: “Women have absolute power within themselves to heal. A living testament to the healing efficacity of her teachings, Maya Tiwari freed herself from “terminal” ovarian cancer at the age of 23. More than 25 years later she shares the healing wisdom that literally saved her life. This power-packed guide teaches women how to renew their health, reconnect with their feminine natures and reclaim their own innate power.

In Ayurveda’s galaxy of effective therapies, Uttara Vasti is the single most essential practice for a woman. The Sanskrit word “vasti” refers to the stomach lining of the animal, which was used in ancient times to create the first Uttara Vasti therapy bag. “Uttara” means womb, cosmos, that which is filled. The wise perceive the womb as uttara-filled with contentment and fulfillment, carrier of life itself. Despite its importance, lunar-rhythm-based knowledge has been long neglected or misplaced in Ayurveda’s practice. Wise Earth School of Ayurveda has restored this essential work. The main reason we do Uttara Vasti is to restore balance to the womb, thereby bringing back our female cycle to the new moon from wherever in the lunar wheel it has strayed.”

Why do an Uttara Vasti?

Alignment with the woman’s cycle with the lunar rhythms. When we lose our relationship with the lunar wheel we go around and around ‘spinning our wheels’ in a way that is undirected and unfocused. It will help maintain healthy hormonal levels, recall your natural rhythms of Shakti prank and revitalize your spirit.

Preparing Uttara Vasti decoctions

Use a double boiler wen preparing the decoction because they need a warm and gentle quality for introduction into the womb space. You don’t want to introduce direct heat to the decoction, since it will be introduced through the lower pathways of the body. The lower pathways do not have the power of agni, digestive fire, to counteract drect heat. We want the treatment to be gentle.

Utensils and equipment
One double boiler or a large pot, one small bowl which fits loosely in the pot, two small stainless steel pots, one metal strainer, one reusable UV bag with douching nozzle (ici moi j’utilise la Neti Kanne…) and 2 bath towels.

Uttara Vasti Formulas
Use a double boiler to prepare all douching solutions. All formulas listed yield one application each. Use only organically grown ingredients.
